you end up with file001.jpg, file002.jpg, file003.jpg etc..Just as a NOTE:
TurboView allows the viewing of images in a THUMBNAIL type of view. You
can also set the size of the ThumbNails to whatever you like:) If you have
sensitive file that you wish others NOT to be able to see or play, then
you can use the Password Protection feature so that prying eyes won't be
able to see them. If you want to convert from one format to another,
then use our Image Format Conversion feature. It also allows you to categorize
your files into ALBUMS. It can do SCREEN-CAPTURE and creation of WALL-PAPER
too. You can also sort quickly (30,000 images in about 2 seconds by filename,
date, size, etc...) Please take a look at our
sample

USES FOR TURBOVIEW help file.
-
I do Web Page development and would like to quickly
look for all my animated GIF files in my system and preview them.
-
I have a bunch of pics that I would like to put
into a Web Site that would have all the pics as thumbnails to click on
and HATE doing it manually. Sometimes I have a hundred or so that
would span 4 or 5 HTML Pages. I want to be able to create all the needed
stuff(HTMLs & thumbnails) in about 1 minute!
-
I want to be able to log into FTP Internet sites
to upload and download files. I want this tool to be easy to use and have
an Explorer like tree view for ease of use.
-
I have a lot of files and would like to produce
a Detailed report for the files. I need dimensions and filesizes and dates
etc... I would also like to include thumbnails with each filename.
-
I like to produce CATALOGS of my images so that
I can send the contact sheets to my friends without having to send a bunch
of big files. Great time saver.
-
I have a bunch of files by different names that
I would like to rename SEQUENTIALLY. For example: Paris_001.jpg, Paris_002.jpg,
Paris_003.jpg etc..
-
I do a lot of scanning and would like to use my
scanner and then edit the pictures.
-
I'm a realtor and would like to keep pictures
of the houses I'm dealing with and information about the houses for easy
lookup and status checking.
-
I collect lots of pictures from various locations
and a lot of them appear to be the same. I would like to be able to quickly
see what are duplicated and remove them and also to compare several files
at once on the screen to see which of the dups I want to keep.
-
I have a lot of sound files and would like a quick
way to locate them all and to optionally play them with ONE click.
-
I would like to make a Lesson or Tutorial system
that would display a series of pictures along with a series of sound files
that talks about each picture.
-
I have a lot of BMP files and would like to convert
them all to JPG files with just a couple of mouse clicks.
-
I have some GIF files with comments in them and
would like to remove them. I would also like to ADD some comments to some
GIF files.
-
I have some 2 color, 16 color, 256 color images
and would like to change the color palette of these files. Maybe I would
like to change the background/transparent color of these files too.
-
I've got so much stuff I would like to scan my
drives for EVERY file of a particular type, for example: All GIFS, or ALL
GIFS & JPGS, or ALL AVIs and WAVs.
-
Sometimes my system blows up or some of my programs
don't do what I think they should and the tech people keep asking me for
SCREEN SHOTS so they can see what my screen looks like at certain points
in time so that they may help me.
-
Every once in awhile I like to change my background
wallpaper to a different image easily.
-
I have some BIG images I want to shrink to have
smaller dimensions. <ZOOM>
-
I would like to have FUN with my pics. I like
turning them into PUZZLES to play with.
-
I have collected a lot of pics and know that I
have a bunch of duplicate images. I want to find them and remove the ones
of lower quality.
-
I would like to group my files into Albums. That
way I don't have to copy files around. I can even put the same file into
several Albums without creating copies of the original image. I also want
to group my animated GIFS into categories<Albums> for easy drag &
drop to my web page design program.
-
I have some raunchy files or some secret(sensitive)
files and would like to keep them from PRYING EYES :) In other words, I
would like to PASSWORD protect these files so NO ONE can view/play them
other than me.

Notes DataBase
Features
There is a built in Notes DataBase manager. Any file
can have up to 7 fields of info filled in with whatever you like. These
fields are CATEGORY, Type1, Type2, Value1, Value2, Keywords, Notes. You
can use these fields for whatever you like. We would make the following
suggestions when deciding what to put in those fields. For example: You
might use the Category field to indicate what kind of file it is, like
BUSINESS or BABES or PERSONAL or VACATION etc... The Type1 and Type2 fields
could be used to indicate a Sub-Category, like BUILDING, CAR, SWIMWEAR,
INSECTS, PAMELA, FRANCE, DISNEYLAND, etc... The Value1 And Value2 fields
can be used to store numbers. You can use these numbers to sort on later
in the Files List Window so that you can control the order of a Slide Show.
The Keywords field can be used to enter a series of words, like BLUE, BLONDE,
PRETTY, SPIDER, PORCHE, PARIS, REDHEAD, LEGS, CONVERTIBLE, T-TOPS, etc...
And the last field NOTES can be used to describe the file. For example:
"Large building made of glass" or "My pictures of Paris France" or "Nice
girl bouncing out of the water" or "Good used car with low mileage". Of
course you can put whatever you want to these fields.
-
Notes DataBase Editor has a PreView window so that
you can see what image you are making comments about in the database.
-
You can UN-DELETE records in the database as long
as you haven't done the Compact/Fix/Re-Link function. This is so that if
you accidentally deleted a bunch of records, you can get them back :)
-
The DataBase can be searched later for information
about your files.
-
You can make a range of records<tagged files>
all have the SAME value for a particular field.
-
You can sort on any of the 7 fields in the DataBase.
-
You can pick any field to be displayed in the Files
List Window
-
Compact/Fix/Re-Link the DataBase to keep it mean
& lean. In case you MOVE files by programs other than TurboView, the
records that are associated with a particular file will now be orphaned
:( This is because the folder/filename that is stored in the database
now no longer exists. So the RE-LINK process scans through all your data
and looks for the proper filename in OTHER folders. If it finds a match,
it asks you if you want to RE-LINK the data record with the newly found
file. Of course if you RENAME a file by programs other than TurboView then
you will not be able to get the orphaned record re-linked :( Any files
that are deleted from your system will also be removed from the database.
Also if the index file ".IDX" got goofed up, this process rebuilds the
index file.
-
Import allows you to suck in data from a comma delimited
file
-
Export allows you to save the data records out to
a comma delimited file
File List
SEARCH Features
The File List SEARCH Window has a lot of cool features..
This is where most of the file searching features are performed.
Select "SEARCH Files List" from the main menu pull down in the Files List
Window. You can even search for duplicate images by APPEARANCE!!! And it
doesn't even matter if the matching images are of different brightness
or maybe one is color and the other is black & white. Even if they
are rotated or flipped from each other, the searching routine will find
them :)
-

-
You can compare 2 files in the search results window
for equality<indentical-ness> :)
-
You can preview each file in the search results window
and even DRAG from it
Album Manager Features
You can create Albums for related files. For example:
You could take all your favorite pics from all your vacations and put them
into an Album. This does NOT copy any files around. It merely keeps track
of what filenames you want in the Album. You can have many Albums and sub-Albums
for quick loading of files into the Files List. So, if a buddy comes over
and you want to bring up your favorite vacation pics real quick you could
do that with Albums in about 4 seconds flat. You can also DRAG & DROP
anywhere TO anywhere. So, you could load up your ANIMATED MAILBOXES Album
and then drag an image to your web development editor for quick web page
design.
Web Page Creation
Features
If you have ever built a Web Page, you know that
some programs are easier to use than others and when it comes down to it,
there are a few good ones. The only problem is this, if you are making
a Web Site of pictures, it becomes a BIG PAIN to make them.
For example: Let's say you went to Paris and wanted
to put up on the Web, your vacation pics. Or let's say you have a new baby
and you want everyone to see the new baby. It's a great way to communicate
with long distance friends and family. The problem with making these types
of Web Pages is that once you have more than 4 or 5 pics to put into the
Web site, it becomes a time-consuming process. First you have to make thumbnails
of all your images. Good luck finding a GOOD program to do that. BUT, even
if you have one, the next step is to INSERT each pic into your HTML code
and to assign a link to the ACTUAL full sized image. Now that's a LOT of
typing.
With TurboView, all you have to do is to copy
all the files into a separate folder and then type in a TITLE and DESCRIPTION
and set the colors & text size the way you want it, then click a button
and POOF, it's all done for you. All the thumbnails are created and all
the HTML file(s) are created for you. You can even tell how many pics per
page. As an example: TurboView can create a Web Site with 250 pics in about
64 seconds on a 450MHZ machine. Now THAT'S SMART!!!

PAGE WIZARD, CLICK HERE.
FTP Web Tool Features
There are lots of FTP programs out there that allow
you to upload and download files from various FTP sites on the Internet.
Our FTP TOOL allows you to view the remote site JUST LIKE your hard drive.
You get to see folders and you double-click on folders to open them up
etc... You can sort by filesize or date or filename etc.. Then you can
hi-lite a bunch of files and then download them to your system. You can
even upload, if the FTP site allows uploads.
Special Features:
If you are behind a firewall or proxy, there is built
in support for that. Also, you can THROTTLE the speed of the downloads.
Basically, you can control how fast the downloads take place so that you
can be in control of how much of your bandwidth is being consumed.
You can also RESUME broken downloads. So if you have been downloading a
big file and then you lose connection, NO PROBLEM. Just log back in and
RESUME the download where you left off. No time wasted!
Caching Support:
FTP function supports folder caching so that as you
access folders on FTP sites, their contents are cached for quicker access.
There are some caching options to allow you to optimize it to your special
needs.
You can have many FTP SITE profile entries and you
can have the downloaded files automatically run/load if you want.
Very simple & EZ to use.
For a more complete description of the FTP
WEB TOOL, CLICK HERE.
Cataloging Features
You can take a group of files and place a bunch of
them onto a printed catalog page. Depending on the number of ROWS you select
determines how many pictures will go onto the catalog. If you have tons
of pics, then that will determine how many catalog pages you will end up
with. You can preview any catalog page BEFORE printing it. You can also
SAVE the catalog page(s) to either BMP or JPG catalog files. So instead
of sending someone 30 pics from your vacation, you could send them ONE
catalog jpg file and they can see ALL the pics at once <smaller of course>
and then they could tell YOU which REAL pic to send them. This is because
each thumb in the catalog has the filename underneath it.
Detailed Files List
Reports Features
This feature is similar to the Catalog feature. The
difference is that you can have detailed information about each file printed
in the report too. You can optionally have just the filenames displayed
too. So, each line of output would contain the filename and dimensions
and date and size etc... of each file. You
can also see what the reports window look like by clicking here.
File List
Window Features
The File List Window has a lot of cool features..
This is where most of the file management features are performed.
Select "Files List Window" from the main FILE menu pull down.
-
All files loaded in the files list appear in this
window.
-
You can DRAG FROM the Files List window onto File
Manager or any other program that accepts dragged files. And the file being
DISPLAYED by TurboView will be DRAGGED over!
-
You can DRAG FROM the small preview area onto File
Manager or any other program that accepts dragged files. And the file being
DISPLAYED by TurboView will be DRAGGED over!
-
You can click on the "ADD Files" button to add more
files to the files list.
-
You can view them in THUMBNAIL "ICON" fashion too
:)
-
You can tag files by clicking in the little box that
appears next to each file. Or you can HIGHLIGHT several files at once then
click on the TAG highlighted files.
-
You can of course UN-tag highlighted files as well.
-
You can also take all TAGged files and make them
untagged
-
You can also REVERSE the tagged files by pressing
the "Flip Tags" button.
-
You can press "No Tags" so that all check marks are
gone.
-
There are several operations you can do to the TAGged
files.
-
Delete them from your drive
-
Remove them from the file list (not the drive)
-
Move them to a different folder
-
Copy them to a different folder
-
Convert them to a different graphic file format
-
Rename using one of 5 different methods
-
You can RENAME a file by clicking in the filename
column for the file.
-
There is a NOTE field for each file. You can enter
any information into this field. You can then SORT on this field if you
wish. This will force a particular ORDER in the list. This is useful for
a slide show ordering technique. You can also SEARCH this field for matching
text in the SEARCH window. If you click on the NOTE column, you can edit
the NOTES field.
-
Press SPACE-BAR while the focus is in the files list
TAGs the highlighted file. You can also click on the BOX next to the filename
to TAG it.
-
You can display the files list as THUMBnails <ICONS>
by clicking on the "View As ICONS" button.
-
Press return on a file or double click a file to
see the FULL SIZE preview.
-
There is a preview window and if you double click
on it, a full sized preview pops up in a NEW window.
-
You can print from the file list window. In fact
you can select to print ALL tagged files.
-
You can drag files FROM or TO the file list window.
-
You can SORT on any column of Filename, size, date,
number of colors, folder, file type, resolution, etc... If you click on
the SAME column header again it will sort in reverse order.
-
There is a TALL MODE so that you see MORE files,
but you don't see the panel with all the buttons on it. But, you don't
need to anyway because every button has a corresponding menu option you
can pick to do the same operation.
-
All options can be done from the MENU options.
-
Just like in the Main TurboView window, there is
a CAMERA ICON that you can press to RE-START a GIF Animation again.
-
You can SEARCH file list by lots of cool options.
You can find any file that matches ANY part of any other file. You can
also search by DUPs :) Just click on the red "?" next to the camera icon
or select SEARCH from the pull down main menu.
-
You can PASSWORD protect any files you TAG and later
you can UN-Protect them if you wish. Protecting them means the file is
garbaged up so NO PROGRAM can view or play or use the file. Only TURBOVIEW
can view/play or use the file, provided you give the correct password.
-
Quick search. If you type fairly quickly, then as
you type in a filename you will see the highlighted file change to the
filename that you typed. So, if you wanted to be placed at the file called
JENNY-10.JPG, you could type in JEN provided there are no other files starting
with J E N. Otherwise you could type in JENNY-10 and it will point you
to your file. If you are slow in typing (more than one second between letters)
then the search starts over from scratch!
-
You can edit the database record for the file by
clicking on the "DB EDIT" button.
-
You can start the background making of the thumbnails
by clicking on the red button next to the Thumb View button. Or you can
switch to Thumb View and the thumbnails will also be produced in the background.
When the thumb are all done being built the button changes to green. While
the thumbs are being made the button is yellow.
-
Full Sized PREVIEW
Window Features
-
You can open up a new movable/sizeable window by
double clicking a file in the Files List Window or by pressing return on
a file in the Files List Window or by double clicking on the small preview
window in the Files List Window. The Full Sized Preview Window can do quite
a bit. You can open up to lots of them. It's great for comparing several
files side by side so that you can see which one you think may be better,
etc.... Press ESCAPE in the window to close it out.
You can DRAG from the window to anywhere on your
desktop or file manager program. You can even drag to the main TurboView
display window :)
If you double click in the full sized preview window,
it toggles it's display mode between actual size mode and stretchable mode.
While in the full sized preview window, you can press
UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT to go to the next file.
Press SPACE-BAR to tag or un-tag the file
You can control these Window(s) with 4 control key
macros. These control key sequences are GLOBAL. It doesn't matter what
part of TurboView you are in for them to work.
-
CTRL-F9 Rotates through all Full Sized Preview Windows
and puts the next one on TOP. <in case it's hidden>
-
CTRL-F10 takes all previews and hides them. <shrinks
them down>
-
CTRL-F11 takes all previews and displays them.
-
CTRL-F12 displays all preview windows TILED on your
screen!
The Main TurboView window and the Files List Window
have a "Previews" menu pull down that have the above functions listed as
menu options.
